I grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles, CA called Torrance, part of what’s known as “South Bay”

Wiki link to South Bay, LA

named for its proximity to Santa Monica bay (where I was born – St. John’s hospital, Santa Monica)

I went to Riviera Elementary School for 9 years (no jr. high or as they now call it, middle schools, back in those days)

and then South High School for 4 years

before wandering off to Junior college

El Camino College

After a life-changing tour of Europe at age 19 (some call it the Grand Tour), I finally managed my AA degree in accounting and headed south to the party school – SDSU

San Diego State University

Where I somehow managed to stay sober and ended up living in San Diego for 15 years, largely thanks to being a total Catamaran freak and living 5 minutes from Mission Bay in Pacific Beach.

My brother Scott, who followed in my footsteps to SDSU, was a most amazing human being who is no longer with us, having succumbed to a 9-year long battle with Lymphoma at a far-too-early age. Scott, a 4-year South High varsity soccer player,  is the inspiration for the long-running effort to raise money for cancer research known as “Renew The Rivalry”

That’s Scott’s pic, top of the In Memorium page

Scott and his soccer cronies from South Bay have an incredible, enduring passion for the game.

Oh, and that’s Mom and Pop (with the Cal hat) at the bottom of the main page of the site…
